Implants

Implants are a great alternative treatment for replacing a missing tooth.  In the past, dentists would either have left the space unfilled, or provided a bridge or partial denture to fill the void.  With implants, we can now more accurately treat these voids in the dentition with a prosthesis that is fixed in the mouth. The advantage of implants is that the dentist can replace a single tooth or a few teeth and the prosthesis is not removable.  Implants have a portion of the prosthesis that is integrated with the bone as well as a crown that is either screwed or cemented into the integrated portion.  With that being said, implants do take time as a result of them relying on healing and accurate planning for their success.
